Who We Are

I'm Farhang Barzin, and I've been working with electricity in one form or another since 1996 — starting out as an electrical engineer in Iran, then moving into telecom, where I spent years managing projects for companies like Siemens and Nokia across the region. In 2008 I started my first company, running it for eight years before I made the move to Canada.

Once I got here, I did things the hands-on way — I worked as an Access Network Engineer at Bell, then went and got licensed as an electrician, working in the field with companies across Toronto to really learn the Canadian systems and codes from the ground up. In 2019 I brought all of that together and started ESS Inc.

Today ESS handles both residential and commercial electrical work. What sets us apart, I think, is that background: most electricians haven't managed international engineering projects, and most engineers haven't spent years actually running the wire and reading the panel themselves. I've done both, and it shows up in how we approach a job — technically sound, but practical about what actually needs to happen to get it done right.

We believe electrical work should be straightforward: a clear quote, work done to code, and a job site left clean. No surprise charges, no shortcuts on safety, and no leaving until the work is done right.
